Defending the Indefensible

There’s a political and media movement in this country that’s eagerly painting a bull’s-eyes on the back of the U.S. government and its representatives. Not surprisingly, more and more disturbed apostles are taking aim.

What’s undeniable is that the attempted assassination of Gabrielle Giffords took place against a right-wing media backdrop that's been targeting the government, and specifically Democrats, in an unconscionable manner.

Social media sites are riddled with indignant conservatives attempting to demonstrate left-wing hate speech equivallency. These attempts miss the point. Ugly language does not have the same influence as the persistent call to arms from some on the right.
